New York beauty haul: Nars, Demeter, Maybelline and Revlon

No trip to New York is complete without a splurge on beauty products. Whilst in New York last week (a last-minute holiday booked on a whim), I picked up some new goodies from beauty emporium Sephora and the drugstores Duane Reade and Walgreens.

Nars Blush in Torrid
Nars blusher is my absolute favourite. I've been using Orgasm nearly every day for about a year now. I had heard good things about Torrid so had to purchase. Not on a par with Orgasm, but a nice coral-y blusher for everyday use.

Demeter Pick-Me-Up Cologne Sprays in Paperback and Fig Leaf
Demeter make fragrances based on real-life scents - think suntan lotion or wet grass. They used to be sold in Liberty but I haven't seen them in the UK for a while now, so I was excited to find the whole collection in Duane Reade in Union Square. Paperback is a sweet, musty scent, reminiscent of an old Penguin Classic. Fig Leaf is a lovely fresh scent. Both are wearable and I think Fig Leaf will become my new daytime perfume.

Maybelline Color Tattoo 24Hr Cream Gel Shadow in Tough As Taupe
Bloggers have been raving about these long-lasting eyecolours, with good reason. The gel formula is easy to apply and lasts longer than most standard eyeshadows, especially when worn with a primer such as Urban Decay Primer Potion. This is a nice neutral shade which can be built up depending on how dramatic you want to look.

Revlon Lip Butter in Raspberry Pie
This is the second Lip Butter I've bought. I was impressed by the staying power and texture of Candy Apple, but wanted one in a pinky shade. Unfortunately there was no tester in Walgreens, where I bought this Raspberry Pie Lip Butter, and I was surprised by how dark the colour is. Lovely fuschia colour, but more full-on and evening-y than I was expecting.
