Edinburgh

I'm off work today, enjoying a long weekend. Yesterday I returned from a lovely couple of days in Edinburgh.

One of the highlights of the weekend was finding an amazing charity shop, a few minutes from our hotel. These days, I find most of these places are full of Primark cast-offs, but this was the kind of charity shop I dream about. They had a whole table of vintage Liberty scarves for under a tenner, and loads of great vintage clothes, obviously donated by a wealthy local.

My best bargain was a vintage 1970s yellow silk Burberry pussy-bow blouse. I also got a cute 1980s white frill-necked blouse and one of the Liberty scarves.

Lucy in Disguise shop in Covent Garden

Betsey Johnson shop in Covent Garden

Today I went shopping in Covent Garden. It was another beautiful day so I wore a sundress and my straw hat.

I was excited to visit Lily Allen's shop, Lucy in Disguise, for the first time. Overall, I was impressed.  If you'watched the Channel 4 documentary about Lily and her sister setting up the store, you might expect it to be slightly shambolic, and completely frivolous. In fact, the stock is well chosen, and although tending towards being pricey, there were some more affordable pieces. It was also nice to get a warm welcome from the shop assistant.

I also stopped at Betsey Johnson, which is another great shop to spend time in, looking at pretty (but expensive) things.
